Attorney, Lori K. Smith, has been recognized for some impressive accomplishments within her field recently. Ms. Smith practices exclusively in the area of Domestic Relations and has been an ADAM attorney since 2011.
Most recently, Ms. Smith was elected to the Board of Directors for the Macomb County Bar Association. She has long played an active role in the legal community having previously served on the Advisory Counsel for the Young Lawyers Section for the State Bar of Michigan as well as Director for the Young Lawyers Section for the Macomb County Bar Association.
In addition, the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys, an organization devoted to recognition of top family law attorneys in the nation, recently selected Ms. Smith as one of the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under the age of 40. Achieving this recognition begins with nomination by another attorney, then a rigorous review, and selection by the NAFLA of the nominee’s credentials.
In November, 2013 Ms. Smith was sworn in to the United States Supreme Court. The court requires a letter of good standing from the presiding judge, clerk, or other official from the attorney’s home state's highest court, plus two sponsors who are current members of the Supreme Court bar and who can attest to the attorney has met the Court's requirements.
Ms. Smith has also been named a Rising Star “Super Lawyer” for the second consecutive year. Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented point system and multiphase selection process to create a list of outstanding attorneys as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel. Candidates are found by the Super Lawyer research staff and/or nominated by peer attorneys, then evaluated based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and outstanding professional achievement. A panel of attorneys is then asked to rate candidates after an extensive review. To meet the Rising Star distinction, the review and selection process is similar to the Super Lawyer process, except a candidate must be 40 years old or younger, or be in practice 10 years or less to be eligible for inclusion. No more than 2.5% of attorneys in each state are named to the Rising Stars list.
ADAM congratulates our colleague Lori Smith on this well-deserved recognition!
