1. Purpose of SMS Communications
ADAM – American Divorce Association for Men (“we,” “our,” or “the Firm”) uses text messaging (SMS) as an additional communication tool to provide clients and potential clients with important information related to our legal services. SMS messages may include:
- Appointment reminders and scheduling updates
- Case status updates and document notifications
- General client service communications
- Legal alerts, educational content, or limited promotional messages related to family law topics
2. Consent to Receive SMS Messages
By providing your mobile number to the Firm, you consent to receive SMS messages from us. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of retaining legal services with the Firm. You may choose not to participate or may withdraw your consent at any time as described below.
3. Message Frequency
Message frequency will vary depending on your case activity, communication preferences, and service updates. In general, clients can expect to receive between 1–4 messages per month, though frequency may increase temporarily during active case periods.
4. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. The Firm is not responsible for any charges incurred by your mobile service provider as a result of receiving our messages.
5. How to Opt Out
You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying “STOP” to any message you receive from us. After opting out, you will no longer receive text messages from the Firm, though you may continue to receive other forms of communication (email, phone, or mail) as permitted.
If you wish to re-enroll in SMS messaging after opting out, please contact our office directly at adamlawinfo@bmpclaw.net.
6. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is extremely important to us. We maintain all client information in strict confidence in accordance with the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct and all applicable privacy laws.
- We do not share, sell, rent, or lease your mobile number or any personal information to third parties.
- SMS communications are used solely for Firm-related purposes as described above.
- Message content may be stored in your client file for documentation and recordkeeping purposes.
- While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, please avoid transmitting sensitive or confidential information via text message unless explicitly directed by your attorney.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and administrative safeguards to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. However, please note that standard SMS messaging is not encrypted, and the confidentiality of text communications cannot be guaranteed.
